the owner himself was very accomodating

Qquite pricey for an overnight stay. If your room is on the upper floor, good luck carrying your luggage -there’s no elevator. The LED TV doesn’t work, and the air conditioner isn’t functioning properly.

The reception is on the same floor with the rooms, which is VERY NOISY as people come in and out even at midnight. The rooms are neither sound proof. VERY BAD PLACE!

We are very experienced traveler and are 77 and 81 years old. However we were badly treated by the owner when we asked for hot drinking water in our small thermos. We got cold water from the tap. We were told by the owner that we would never get anything more. He became more and more angry. He said: "This is an Hostal, just the room and no service." Eventually he told us that we could get our money back and move to some other place. (Where can we find an other place in Madrid a Sunday evening? Kind people at a restaurang gave us hot water.)
