Pensión Peiró is in an excellent location for seeing Barcelona’s main attractions. It also felt safe and secure. The staff were also friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were always working hard to keep the place immaculate (which the shared bathrooms always were). It was also not the most expensive compared to most places in Barcelona.

To be improved

Unfortunately, I had a very uncomfortable stay and regret staying here. The first room I was given (Room 14) was extremely noisy (noisy adjoining guests and construction work) plus it was suffocatingly hot at night which the ceiling fan did little to remedy. When I went to reception the next morning, the receptionist very kindly and helpfully gave me the choice of 4 other rooms which he showed me around. I chose the best of a bad lot (Room 1) which was in a quieter spot and adjoining the shared bathrooms. Unfortunately, this room, too, was suffocatingly hot. The air was dead and hot (even though there wasn’t the heatwave of a few weeks previously). Noise was still an issue though not as bad as the first room. I got very very poor quality sleep owing to the suffocating heat and noise. The ceiling fan was completely useless and when at it’s top 2 speed settings actually made a lot of noise as it shook and vibrated in its bracket. It really was like sleeping in a sweatbox. The synthetic materials and hard mattress also made the bed really uncomfortable and damp with sweat. The two rooms I was given weren’t at all like those shown on the website and were more akin to prison cells given their sparsity and simplicity. Despite the ideal location, reasonable price, cleanliness and helpful staff, I would not stay here again.
