The listing said there was no WiFi but I didn’t see it. I had to do video conferences for work, needing more privacy than using WiFi in a coffee shop, so I had to find other lodging that offered WiFi. I let the host know I was moving out, admitting it was my own fault for not reading the listing more carefully, and suggested that “No WiFi” should also be added to the Property Description and Property Amenities sections of the listing so it would be more visible. After leaving, I messaged the host to please remove my passport details from their system, a precaution to keep my passport info secure since I was not going to be staying there and my passport details would be entered at the new accommodation.  In his reply, the host stated that my reservation is non refundable. I had prepaid, knew it was nonrefundable, and DID NOT ask for a refund. The host further said “I remind you that you were the one who decided to leave. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't bother me any further.”  I was shocked and replied that this was a rude comment. He replied: “No guest has ever behaved like this… I always spoke to you formally, and you, your excessive messages, your way of speaking so demandingly about something that I was not guilty of, you kept insisting on the subject. You told me that you were leaving and I replied that you were the one who chose it, the doors of my house were open to receive you. I believe that you cannot speak with such contempt. I felt harassed, so I told you that if you left, please do not continue bothering me.” While most hosts welcome feedback on how to make the booking experience better, his harsh words ruined my first-ever day in Spain. The owner could have said thanks for the suggestion to improve the listing, too bad it didn’t work out, your passport info will be removed as soon as possible… and all would have been well.
