“Excellent location”
Location excellent. Beautiful city and port area. Breakfast fine. Room very dark and dated. Wasn’t aware there was a seating area on roof. Shame as definitely would have used it. Staff pleasant. Fan/air con didn’t work. Room very hot. Yes can open the windows but not ideal. A 3 star hotel at best. Would I stay here again? Probably not as I prefer a more light and airy hotel. Photos on website very deceptive. Nothing really wrong with hotel, just not for me.
“No complaints, location perfect, would recommend.”
Lovely hotel stay at the Petit Palace Plaza Malaga. Nothing wrong with this hotel, but the 4th star is a bit of a stretch. Service was fantastic, staff are helpful, warm and friendly, all english speakers, nothing but great service from the team. The hotel is limited by its wonderful building and old town centre location. The location is a real highlight, absolutely perfect for exploring the marble paved streets and alleys of Malaga Old Town. 15min walk from the station, 10min walk from the waterfront, 10mins from the roman amphitheatre ruins and 0 mins from the old town bars and restaurants. Behind the hotel is the giant Cathedral and there are plazas at every turn. The rooms are clean, comfortable but basic, with a somewhat random collection of furniture which didn’t quite work and the frosted glass door on the bathroom is a bit odd, letting in light all night despite the best efforts of the blackout curtains on all the windows. Disappointed the aircon was turned off (hate that, that’s my choice not the hotels) but the supplied fan was welcomed, tea/coffee making facilities are there, the mini bar was reasonably priced and the TV and toiletries were welcome, all good. Think 3 stars, not 4 and you’ll be happy. Breakfast was simple but great, plenty for all tastes, coffee was superb and plentiful. I would recommend this hotel for the friendly service and location alone, some comments, but no complaints.
“Hotel and other thoughts”
Great location! We were welcomed warmly by Jose and Sonia… Our room was on the fourth floor (3rd) with the windows opening over the street, but it was very very quiet. The bed was a platform style, low to the floor, and the 'bedside tables' were 10" (that's ten inches!!) off the floor. The breakfast was sufficient, but pretty crowded. I'd recommend the Museum of Malaga and Picasso's birth place. If you go to Picasso art museum be advised that you must buy tickets on line (not because it sells out but because there ISN'T a ticket office) and that you must line up for your time/and have your ticket checked 3 times/and have your bag searched, and the staff is in every room/hall/space watching as if the public has never been in a museum before. On TripAdvisor for the Alcazaba search reviews for "elevator" for directions. No line to buy tickets at elevator, and you start at the top and work your way down instead of up the hill!
“Beautiful, simple hotel”
A brilliantly located hotel in this beautiful city...lovely staff and the breakfast was great with lots of choice and constantly being replenished. The rooms are simple but spacious with everything you need. Only small issue is the mattresses - made up as two singles even for a double room, they are comfy but move too easily and slide off the bases - a topper would solve it!! Overall beautiful, good value and we would return!
“Dated Hotel - Great Location”
I feel it’s crucial to share my experience with the reservation departments - I had a non-refundable reservation. Though the policy allows one date change, I had already used that once before, prior to a national emergency. After severe flooding in the country, I couldn’t travel, and all three hotels refused any flexibility for a second change. I spoke with reservation and hotel management - this lack of empathy and support during a crisis was truly disheartening. I hope they reconsider, but I will be cautious about staying with this brand again. This is a cautionary warning to others. Hotel is dated. A full refurbishment is needed. The rooms are stuck in the 70's. Bathroom had mold and the full bed was two twins pushed together that were not secured - so I fell between the two at night! Breakfast was decent with a good assortment. The location is the best you will find but I prefer to walk than stay here again.
“Fabulous hotel”
This hotel is a gem in the heart of Málaga. The staff were amazing and made sure our stay was special. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic, with lots of choice. We had a superior quadruple room which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. A four star hotel which provides a five star experience. We will definitely be returning.
