Plaza del Carmen

Apartment very small, not as big as it looks in photos. It is a very noisy very hot place. Carmen Plaza is a major road roundabout, not a pedestrian plaza, dozens of bins are emptied troughout the night, every night. It was impossible to sleep. Friday and Saturday nights are the worst loud pedestrian noise from yelling bosterous groups of young males continued until 4am each night. The apartment is stuffy and hot, especially in bedroom, no fans provided. The windows open but the adjacent building blocks breeze. No privacy, if you open blinds the people in the adjacent apartment are only 4 meters away, and we could see everything they did. No dishwasher. No cooking oil, no kitchen paper, not enough toilet paper , 1 bin liner, 1 washing machine capsule for 2 week stay. Pillows were as cheap and uncomfortable as you can get. Dirty floors and floor mat which we had to roll up and clean floor when we arrived.see picture The shower was not recently cleaned. Builtin bedside table broken and unusable, Unexpected cleaning charge put on our account of over €50, before we departed. No idea why.Perhaps the 'free pet stay' was not free. No onsite key or remote entry, host must meet you to let you in. Something she clearly resents doing. Apartment was entered whilst we were out, without first telling us or asking our permission. We came back to an unflushed toilet and our cherries in fridge eaten. It may have been a person inspecting broken fridge whilst we were out buying more ice, but it should not happen. Host extremely rude and very inapropriate. If you are flying into Gijon be warned, if your plane is late, getting into apartment will also be a long wait. Host kept us waiting nearly 1 hour because our arrival time changed due to flight delay, even though we sent 6 messages keeping her informed. Her delay was because she 'has 7 apartments to care for and was busy, and its not her fault our plane was delayed' .
