“Very Clean and Great Location but Needs Updating”

We arrived in Valencia by train about 12.30, and check in started at 3pm. We messaged the host the day before and asked if we could check in early. We were delighted that the apartment was ready when we arrived in Valencia. The host met us at the property to allow us to check in early and leave our bags so that we could go and explore the city. The apartment was very clean inside and the bathrooms looked to have been recently refurbished. The location was excellent. We have visited Valencia a number of times and we love the El Carmen area. The apartment overlooked the Plaza El Carmen and was close to many cafes, shops and restaurants. It's a very vibrant area at night.

To be improved

The apartment furnishing, aside from the bathroom, was quite dated. Although as I mentioned above it was very clean. The sofa bed was shabby. When converted into a double bed, it collapsed, which was a problem as our two children were sleeping in it. The balcony door didn't lock and the balcony was shared with the apartment next door. There was a bad smell of sewage in the communal area and staircase.

The location The apartment was fine, just few things meed sorting. Bedroom window don't open, patio door lock don't work so can't lock it, I know it's fourth floor but joins to neighbours balcony. Bedrooms could do with a boost like maybe a nice colour on wall behind bed to make it look better. Would stay again.

To be improved

Didn't like the building work going on next door, the continuous noise, dust and lorry's at all hours. This wasn't mentioned on the booking at all. We couldn't sit on the balcony because of the noise and dust and couldn't have an afternoon sleep because of noise. Once the building works have finished I would stay at apartment again.

“Simply breath-taking”

It's a beautiful area and the apartment has a great view on the Plaza.

To be improved

The house has a major issue with the sewer system. The stairwell had the most terrible, breath-taking smell for two days. When you got to the fourth floor, you felt like Andy Dufrense, who had just escaped from Shawshank prison. The smell lingered in the kitchen, although not as strong. Luckily, we weren't very hungry in the apartment.
