“One of the best hotels anywhere”

The best

We just love this hotel! This was our third visit as it's ideally situated for a stop-over when en route from Salamanca to Lugo (and many other places). Kiko, the owner is a lovely man - very friendly and easy going. Each time we have stayed the room has got better, not that there was anything wrong with the first one. But they all individual and have very nice personal touches. On this occasion we were given the room with its own spa/sauna, although it was much too hot to want to take advantage of it! There is a beautiful enclosed courtyard to enjoy a drink/coffee/breakfast and the hotel restaurant has a very good menu and the food is of a very high standard. We had cecina as a started to share and it was to die for! By far the best cecina we had all trip, and we had quite a lot! The steaks are also very good and cooked to perfection. Whilst there is not a lot to see in Villalpando, there is a small town square with a few bars and a couple of other bars/restaurants around the town. The hotel restaurant is definitely the place to have dinner though. Good sized room, large and comfortable bed and pillows, a fabulous bathroom with big, fluffy towels and nice toiletries and best of all, great aircon which was definitely needed during the heatwave! Also, free parking on all the streets, or the hotel has free private parking across the road, Can't wait to go back :)

“Lovely place to stay”

The best

Lovely traditional building, very clean and well maintained with helpful friendly hosts. Unfortunately we had a huge delay getting to the property and didn’t arrive until nearly midnight but the hosts left a number for us to call, they arrived promptly when we rang and were so kind and understanding, quickly showing us to our room to sleep and leaving the check in process until the next day. Sadly our late arrival meant we never got to experience the spa facility, but the breakfast was lovely with warm croissants and other pastries, huge mugs of coffee and tea and freshly squeezed juice.

“Poor, and in a rough area! chosen for its unaccessible private parking garage!!”

Comfortable beds, good shower in an alternative room. Wine. Food was OK, stale bread !, fresh arrived after we complained??

Lack of private parking! We had to park in a rough area on the street!With our car full of our belongings! Hotel is past it's best , seating in the scruffy reception looked unhygienic! Tin of cockroach spray as you walk in. We booked it on the previous guest comments!! No usable Wi-fi in the first room, cheap looking bathroom with curtain bath! Overpriced!

“The spa was great for the four of us. We stopped here on our way to Galicia and it was very convenient. · Cons: There is nothing to do in the village. The surroundings are not nice. On the lower floor the space was limited, difficult to move around and overcrowded with things. A food in the restaurant could be better.”
