Easy access to center of Santillana

To be improved

One of our last hotels at the end of our mini road trip around the area. Every hotel we’ve stayed in offers a bottle of water every day & some sort of coffee/tea making facility which this hotel did but decided to only offer it for one day which is quite unusual & mean, we would have been happy to pay extra for some coffee pods or granules Just seems petty penny pinching - look at the bigger picture!!!

It was well kept and clean. Property had easy access to Santillan del Mar.

To be improved

The beds were not very comfortable, it was noisy and rooms were not well insulated for sound. The room was musty and stuffy. I felt I couldn't breathe, only the AC helped. The spa was far too expensive for what it is also. The pool was too cold to enjoy and there were too many people in at one time.

“Perfect for anyone visiting Santillana Del Mar or just passing through”

The best

We've stayed in many hotels in Spain - from simple one stars to five-star Paradores - so have a broad experience of what's good and what's not. Suffice to say we contemplated returning to Posada Spa San Marcos on our return journey from a tour of Spain. Had we not visited Santillana del Mar on two previous occasions it would be a definite. We opted for the Posada - rather than the attached hotel - from a fellow traveller's recommendation – and weren't disappointed. The Posada enjoys an adjacent private car park - so easy to move luggage to and fro. It's a five minute walk into the historic area of Santillana del Mar - even with my walking aid! Buffet breakfast was excellent, with everything we required being available - plus the option of a cooked breakfast on request– at no additional charge. The walk-in rain shower was a nice and welcome surprise. Having stayed at the Parador Gil Blas (smack bang in the middle of the difficult to navigate old town) on a prior trip, being on the edge of the town, proved much more relaxing. To cap it all, if you're a classic car or motorbike buff, the hotel's owner allows guests to view his admirable collection.

To be improved

The only disappointment, which wasn’t a huge issue, the in-room coffee machine didn’t function too well.
