“If you prefer quiet places, this is not for you.”
The property was clean and in a central location close to the Cathedral and on the Camino path.
The property was on a main route. All night long there were people walking by. It was very noisy as we had the windows open because it was hot. We not get much sleep. The shower did not drain, it was clogged with hair. My husband cleaned the drain so that the water would drain properly.
“Room was extremely small. No room to open my suitcase.”
Hostess was very nice, communicative and helpful.
Very loud banging in the late night hours. Could also hear everyone walking up and down the stairs.
“Nice place, questionable stay”
The room, staff, location (for convenient in-city access) are great for day time activities. The balcony and sound-minimizing windows were valued.
Santiago city central in mid-June was akin to a frat-house party atmosphere long into the morning hours, well beyond the threshold I anticipated. The flip side of the pros listed above is that one can’t expect a good night’s sleep in such an environment. The sound minimizing windows helped lessen the impact of the general hum, but didn’t help much with the hoots, bangs, and 3 am birthday song outbursts.
“Uncomfortable attic room”
The location was good, in the old town near the cathedral.
I was given the attic room, this was at the top of the building up many flights of stairs. My first clue that it was going to be a small room was that the door was a sliding door as there was not enough room for a normal door to swing open. The sloped ceiling meant the useable area of the room was small. I could only stand upright when beside the wall, otherwise I had to hunch over to avoid hitting my head (which I did several times!). It felt incredibly cramped and claustrophobic. There was a skylight, but this also let in all the mosquitos and the noise from the street and the fan didn’t work, so the room was very hot. The bathroom was also very small, and the shower was cramped. I had a very uncomfortable stay, which was a shame at the end of the Camino when I wanted to relax.
