The washer and dryer were not accessible as they were locked.

Check-in is at 5 p.m., which I did not realize until the day of arrival (I assumed 3 p.m., and those additional hours make a difference, especially if you arrive in Madrid early like we did). The apartment has a washer/dryer, which they do not allow guests to use. They told us that it is broken, but I witnessed the cleaning staff doing laundry both when we dropped off our bags early, and again after check-out when I had to return to the apartment because I forgot something. I wish the owner had just said that the washer/dryer is off limits (maybe a note on the appliances), instead of insisting that it's broken. I was especially annoyed because we traveled with limited detergent pouches to use at strategic times during our long vacation, and we emptied our last pouch into the washer, only to realize that we could not do laundry. Check out is at 11, but the cleaning staff arrives a few minutes before then. The oven also seemed to be unplugged, with the plug not easily accessible. This is a personal preference, but I think the owners could get rid of some of the things in the bedroom, like at least one of the armchair pillows, as it made the room feel a bit cluttered.

We rented this place because it had a washing machine, which we needed at this point in our trip. However, the owner had placed a padlock box on the washer and dryer plugs. When we contacted them they claimed 'they had just broken and they hadn't had a chance to change the listing.' However reading earlier reviews these locks had been in place for at least 5 months. As of today the listing is now changed to not list a washing machine, but it still lists a dryer and an oven. Neither of these appliances are usable, and the oven appears to have never even been fully installed. The apartment appears to be used for storage for old furniture that does not fit in the space, like a large wine fridge that was not usable or a large table that prevents the front door from opening more than 45 degrees and also blocks all but 20 cm of the bedroom door. The place would be completely unusable for anyone with any sort of physical disability. The glass shower door was also broken and of questionable safety. The rooms are small with limited storage or room to walk around the furniture. There was a sign that you could store suitcases under the bed, but the underbed storage was completely full with the owner's junk. When we rented this place it was rated 9.1 on booking. We've rented 35 apartments through booking and this place is worse than any other 8+ rated apartment we have rented.
