SH Colon Valencia Hotel

On arrival and finding an issue with room, it wasn’t really possible to get a change of room. Staff on that day on reception were friendly enough but did not have English and sadly we do not speak Spanish. While hotel is in a good location and is clean and quiet. Fittings are of an average quality and beginning to fail. Breakfast is ok. Reasonable selection. There is a room outside but sun is not on this in afternoon/evening. Perhaps would be useful in height of summer. Please note room 207 has no working fan in toilet and a leaking shower cubicle. These are in the room so not great. Also no coffee-making facility as advertised. We reported the fan issue. But as our stay was short did not wish to cause a fuss. The room looks out on an internal light well with air con pipes. It is not possible to have a window open for noise. Could be an issue for those with any breathing issues or claustrophobia. Would be unlikely return to this hotel.

Just home after a 3 night stay in the SH Colon.I must say that every single aspect of our stay was amazing, the staff at reception were the most helpful group of people.we stayed in the junior suite which was absolutely amazing and everything about our stay was fantastic ...We will be back.

Great location with very friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable room and the restaurant/bar area was really good. The location of the hotel was perfect to be able to get to the sights and all the restaurants around. Nice breakfast selection.

Io e il mio compagno siamo stati in questo hotel per 7 notti ad agosto Posizione centralissima, molto vicino al centro storico e ai mezzi di trasporto, hotel pulito, silenzioso, personale gentile e disponibile Camera abbastanza deludente: piccola, buia e molto umida Non avevamo un balcone ma solo una finestra che affacciava su una corte interna, motivo per il quale eravamo obbligati a tenere le tende chiuse e inoltre non avevamo modo di stendere salviette da spiaggia o costumi Il bagno non aveva finestre e in più la luce del bagno si accendeva automaticamente in modo abbastanza fastidioso, spegnendosi mentre ci si faceva la doccia ma allo stesso tempo restando accesa per mezz’ora dopo che eri uscito dal bagno Ultima pecca l’umidità, abbiamo dovuto dormire quasi sempre con il deumidificatore acceso e il piumone addosso, inutile dire che siamo tornati a casa ammalati

What a great place! After not being able to stay in our hotel due to strong chemicals we found this place & it was just the best! Friendly receptionists especially Elenor, near all the shopping, great room, just a couple of tweaks, the phones dont work, flooring split near bed, however the bed was so comfy! We forgot to check what kinda mattress it was lol After staying in not so nice hotels ,It made our whole holiday special! We loved it!

This is a cheap hotel so if you book hoping for something nice you'll be disappointed. My advice: 1. If you really want to stay here, don't book in advance, or ensure you book with option to cancel and check prices closer to date. 2. If you wonder why room descriptions are not clear, I think it's on purpose 3. if you get a city view room on level two and there is still availability, I would immediately complain. We chose this hotel based on location, which suited us, but if you are wondering why it's so expensive then trust your gut, it's not worth it. We booked a city view for a weekend in early August (high season) four months in advance and they charged us a rate 70% higher than they were charging for the same rooms during our stay. To add insult to injury they then gave use the worst cityview room on level 2 furthest from the centre. It's like they try to give the worst experience! Not only were they reluctant to change the room or offer an upgrade even though a suite was being sold for 50€ less a night, they were combative despite my calm explanation that surely they could offer better. I observed another couple also got a room change after seeing the tiny room they first got. I suspect all the sh hotels are cartel like because all their prices were much higher months in advance than closer to that weekend in August. I also suspect bad management and training in every facet of this hotel so maybe it's a final money grab. I'll repeat my advice: 1. Book a room you can cancel, check the prices closer to the date. 2. level two is not Cityview and some city view have king beds with wide opening windows. Also, I suspect not all Deluxe rooms have views. 3. look out for broken things such as: Unfixed wall safes!, broken window handles, uncleaned aircon filters 4. I can't blame the hotel for this but the dodgy way they do parking allowed for the parking station to try to charge us an additional 22€. It was an obvious attempt to cheat us and I had receipts to prove it. 5. With broken security things and this behaviour you don't feel safe in the hotel. You'd think the hotel would help in this but no... you have to waste time to fix it yourself. Other signs they do not care about repeat business are 1. Not replying to emails before check-in. 2 not replying to an email I wrote during my stay to give them a chance to improve my experience and 3. The post visit survey is broken all over the place. Also the fitness room is 3 bikes and a set of barbells and breakfast just as careless. Worst hotel experience on a one month trip, I could have stayed nearby for half the price and I believe In a nicer hotel... and oh boy Valencia is the most surprisingly beautiful city.
