“Poor experience. Relies on location.”
Whilst this hotel is in a good location for accessing walks and cycling, there isn't much competition in terms of hotels in Bielsa, and the sad reality is it is a 2 star (maximum) hotel. Reception kept us and the people behind us waiting for 10 minutes at check-in because the lady was on the phone even though she knew we were waiting. We had booked half-board and this was a big mistake. If you do book here, consider room only. Things have changed in the recent past compared to older reviews. The restaurant is disgusting and unhygienic due to the number of flies crawling over the food. Although our room was spacious and the beds were comfortable, it had many problems. We paid for a "superior room" because on the web page it describes these rooms as newly renovated, and having "magnificas vistas". In reality they are on the first floor so have the worst views of any rooms. Our room had a magnificent view of the road. Hence it was noisy too. When I asked about this at reception, I was told by the man that one person's idea of a magnificent view was different to another person's, and the room in their view was perfect. The bathroom was dirty, the radiator was rusty, and there was mould around the sealant, There was no air conditioning so it was terribly hot all through day and night. Would I stay here again? Definitely not. The hotel managers need to look at somewhere like hotel Silken in Ordesa, or Hotel Villa de Alquezar to see what a good value , clean and friendly 3 star actually looks like. For tasty and safe food, try the burger/steak grill just 5 minutes walk up the road.
“Disappointing food, disappointing views from rear rooms, rusty bathroom”
Although we booked a superior room and it is claimed by the hotel to have magnificent views, the view was of the road. So it was noisy and uninspiring. The room was said to be recently renovated, but the bathroom was old and rusty. There was no air conditioning in the room so it was very hot. There were too many flies in the hotel , especially in the dining room so we did not want to eat there. A good burger restaurant is 5 minutes walk up the road.
“We would not stay at one if these hotels again.”
The staff ordered us a taxi, there was iced water at reception.
The sink was coming off the wall, so was the shower . The bedroom furniture was chipped . The room was tired and shabby. Breakfast none of the food was covered and there were a lot of flies.
“Beautiful location”
Have eaten out or had a drink at the hotel for many years, first time staying there this year under new ownership. Pluses: Fabulous location; very good value as a solo traveller, good comms with online booking, room nice. Minuses: no aircon (rarely needed up here but we were in a heatwave that night) The biggest plus & minus was the restaurant - in 2025 I would expect at least 1 vegetarian option for a main course. I asked for, and got, a very nice tortilla...but then had to ask for something, anything, to go with it (no bread or fries for example). But the waiter/manager was very good - and quick - in remedying the situation. So the staff excelled themselves which is a great plus - but consider putting a vegetarian option on the menu (especially as it's not just vegetarians who will eat it if its nice & healthy!) - plus better profit margins for the hotel without meat or fish costs!
