“A great hotel with fantastic staff”
Last year I stayed at the neighbouring 4 star hotel and had such a bad experience that I swore I would never return to Salou. Booked this last minute, very apprehensive but so so glad I made the decision to come. The hotel is perfectly located for central Salou and Portaventura - the walks to both the beach and the theme park were no problem with a 5yo and baby in a buggy. The building doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is beautiful, as is the pool area. Pool gets the sun all day and is so so well kept - the lifeguard is constantly cleaning and is much kinder with the rules than in other hotels we've visited. The food is varied and instead of the normal meat plus sides, they make an effort to serve varied dishes which I haven't seen in other all inclusive hotels. No long wait at a counter - all food available and regularly restocked. But the 5 stars comes fully from the staff - from the minute we checked in, they were incredible. I would love to mention them by name but everyone made such an effort with us that there would be too many. The lifeguard, staff in the evening bar, the pool snack bar and the dining area all absolutely made our holiday. Whilst we were there, there were many Spanish guests during our stay but staff showed no favouritism whatsoever (as has been my experience in other hotels). The female animation team members made my daughter feel so special and she has not stopped talking about Channel - even the adult evening entertainment included the children and did not make them feel like a nuisance. Thank you all so much. We have very fond memories of our stay.
“Nice location if you don’t mind walking, clean.,”
Comfortable beds, clean, away from main area so not noisy at night time. Ok breakfast selection, continental style.
Double room only one mirror in the bathroom, which isn’t ideal for ladies sharing, large wardrobe that had mirrors outside in a previous stay but not this time. Charging was bad for more than one device. Coffee at breakfast was just not drinkable. No shop close by so walking 5-10 minutes with bottles of water may not suit everyone. Back gate entry exit but times of closing seem to vary greatly. Air con very poor Key cards continually not working had to be changed many times at reception who weren’t too happy if it was early morning!
“Great Hotel all round”
We stayed here for 4 nights this week! Rooms are basics enough to look at but that's it, beds are comfy, aircon and room is clean. Food is excellent, there was a big selection of meat available and it was there waiting for you, you weren't waiting on a chef to hand you a piece of salmon or steak and not sure if you should ask for more...it was there and cooked and you could help yourself. It was perfect to be honest. I was never waiting more than a minute to be asked about a drink at mealtimes regardless of how busy it was which is a first. They were always on the ball. The staff there all round were excellent to deal with. We got a great deal on this hotel also, best value stay we've ever had. Gym is basic enough, one rower, treadmill, bike, strider. There is a set of dumbbells but the heaviest is 10kg. It's a 10 minute walk to portaventura
“A wonderful hotel, thank you”
What a great hotel, we had a fantastic stay. Pros: Very clean Spacious surroundings Food was great Restaurant staff wonderful Mini club and mini disco great fun for children Cons: The outdoor swimming pools were FREEZING You need to wear swimming caps in the indoor pool, can buy for €3 each so BRING YOUR OWN SWIMMING CAP
“Brilliant”
Very clean hotel. Great food. Great service. Hotel staff very good. Very close to main town and bars. I will be back next year. For another great holiday
“Wonderful stay, great food, perfect location, lovely staff.”
Can’t wait to return… having read the mostly great reviews before coming from the U.K. we had high hopes for this holiday and it didn’t disappoint! We’re not party animals so the quiet location at the end of the road to the Theme park was perfect for us, just far enough from the bustling Salou strip but not too isolated. The location is wonderful- a 5-10 minute stroll to PortAventura, 10 mins out the pool gates to Salou and a bus stop next door to the hotel for Tarragona! From start to finish the hotel and staff have been wonderful. Newly renovated lobby area to the large clean pool surrounded by palm trees. The bedrooms are clean and modern- aside from the bathrooms that are ready for an update but otherwise immaculate. The food has been great- varied with some English foods and more traditional options, the fresh station is great with a new choice every evening. Beware of the occasional rude English/Scottish (witnessed) guest who think it’s reasonable to shout at the staff when they have their own drinks removed on entry to the restaurant at dinner- it is a restaurant- would you turn up with your own glass of wine to a Pizza Express in the U.K?! At €2.90 for a glass of cava, €3 for a beer- how can anyone moan. The rudeness we have witnessed has been dealt with extremely professionally by the staff who don’t deserve it! The only other thing we would ask for when we return (and we definitely will!) would be a room on the top floor- perhaps a corner room as we were the middle of the second floor and it was very noisy late into the night- again- not the hotels fault but the guests who feel it’s acceptable to shout/run/slam doors in the corridors! Evening entertainment in the very modern bar has been great, and varied, the entertainment team are brilliant, also offering games by the pool during the day occasionally- which was perfect for us. We liked that the resort is not all inclusive as we feel this would spoil the calmer atmosphere here. We have had a wonderful holiday and would return in a heartbeat, very sad to be leaving the beautiful Sol Costa Daurada tomorrow.
