“More Like a Party Hostel Than a Hotel”
We stayed at Pelicanos with high expectations, but unfortunately the experience fell well short. A major issue was the lack of air conditioning. We were told it hadn’t been switched on yet because it was “not hot enough,” despite temperatures feeling like 30°C according to the Met Office. This was a daily complaint from many guests, yet nothing changed. With windows left open as the only option, nights were unbearable due to constant noise, music, and singing on balconies until after 5am, along with plenty of mosquito bites - clearly, it was warm enough. We were situated in the OCAS building, which had absolutely no entertainment and no atmosphere whatsoever. Everything appears to be run through the Pelicanos building, leaving OCAS feeling neglected and very flat in comparison. The rooms themselves were basic but functional; however, the beds were extremely uncomfortable. While towels were changed daily (a positive), the floors were not swept or cleaned during our five-day stay. Cleanliness in the main areas was very poor. Toilets were frequently filthy, with ongoing issues that were reported multiple times but not properly addressed. The general atmosphere was also disappointing - there were many heavily intoxicated guests, loud shouting, and regular arguments between groups. It didn’t feel family-friendly at all. Around the pool, there were instances of inappropriate behaviour, including questionable attire from a stag group despite children being present. To their credit, staff eventually intervened and removed one individual, but it shouldn’t have reached that point. There also appeared to be no clear cutoff for drinks. Breakfast offered a good range of food, which was one of the few positives. However, after one walk through the dinner service, we chose not to return. One genuine highlight was the hotel’s location. Within a short walking distance, we found some excellent restaurants, real hidden gems, which we discovered through TripAdvisor. It provided a welcome break from the all-inclusive environment, and it was noticeable that many other guests were choosing to do the same. Unfortunately, another downside of the location was the presence of street beggars directly outside the hotel. It was difficult to come and go without being approached, which at times felt uncomfortable and detracted from the overall experience. Other issues included vaping in the bar, cigarette butts scattered around the property, and constant noise at night from nearby bars emptying bottles into street bins, followed by early morning collections from refuse trucks after 5am. We chose this hotel because of its association with the TV show Benidorm, but aside from the pool, it felt nothing like it. This seems like a missed opportunity given its unique appeal. Overall, a very disappointing stay. Based on our experience, we would not return. It’s also worth noting that management appears to only respond to 5-star reviews, so I don’t expect a reply.
“You get what you pay for”
For the money it’s ok Stayed for three nights Rooms clean air con wasn’t very good tried the breakfast once and didn’t return. Location is very good staff very nice and friendly This is a party town so the hotel can be very loud at night
“Poor”
What can I say!! … hotel clean, bedroom staff wonderful … bar staff dismissive and patronising like I was somehow less than then because i was all inclusive, watered down vodka soooo much they were actually taking the mickey, and having to queue for a new plastic glass? Well it was frankly insulting considering what I paid … , the food was, well, honestly? … over cooked, rehashed, mushy and not even warm! I chose zucchini quiche it looked great but it was barely warm … the downstairs bar is like something like Out of the seventies … so uninviting like a waiting room!!! Oh and have I mentioned the drinks! Dire, tasteless, felt v isolated as a single lady too … v poor customer liasion … honestly don’t bother, overpriced and couldn’t care less!!!
“18th birthday holiday”
Stayed for 4 nights for my daughters 18th birthday. Hotel lovely and clean with friendly staff. Rooms well equipped and comfortable. Great location. Staff brought champagne for my daughter totally thoughtful. Glad we didnt go full board as dont think its worthbit. Food ok but better to eat out. All round its a decent place to stay. We went as my daughter obsessed with the tv show Benidorm
“Poor hotel”
Very dated front doors don’t work, aircon not on yet or don't work, toaster is rubbish. Rooms you can hear everything. Rooms very dated. You pay for kettle. Good points location. Clean towels everyday
“Mixed bag. Some really good things but the food is terrible”
It's a three star hotel and that feels about right. There are some good things and not so good. The hotel pools are fabulous. Lots of sunbeds and very well kept. They are really big and well designed too. My bed was comfortable and the room clean enough. I was lucky enough to have a pool view (rm 217,) as did one of my friends. Our other two friends had much poorer views but were generally satisfied with the rooms themselves. The big letdown is the food. It's really poor quality and not well cooked. Most of it was luke warm at best. Another issue is the crockery and cutlery. It just isn't clean. Food stains, grease marks, just yuck. The hotel can be 'lively' but I didn't have any trouble sleeping. The TV was poor. I like to see the news when I wake up but most channels were buffering. My friends had exactly the same issues in their rooms. Staff were friendly enough. Overall I was worried before I went that it would be terrible but it wasn't. I wouldn't personally return (and certainly wouldn't eat there) but I know some people will be happy with the basic, clean rooms, the pools and the proximity to the strip.
