A place to relax and enjoy luxury, leaving a desire to visit again.
The breakfasts are absolutely delicious with fresh baked goods and a diverse menu.
The staff are outstanding with their service and friendliness.
We had a suite with a private pool, which was wonderful.
It is a quiet location with free parking; the best beaches are just minutes away by car.
The staff always cleans to a high standard daily, all linens and towels high quality.
“Stunning resort that is so peaceful.”
I’m currently waiting to check out of Son Penya, both my husband and I will be very sad to leave. We stayed in a villa, private pool with a view of the country and vineyards. The pool is a decent size and you can swim in it. We are here in August and the pool is warm. The bed was super comfy for both, I like a soft bed my husband likes it firmer but it was great for us both. Pillows are good too. The resort is super quiet, you can hear the birds and cicadas sing and that’s it, we never heard anyone else. The area itself isn’t our favourite, the beaches this side are very touristy, the closest villages aren’t as pretty as some we visited on the west side (they are hard to beat) we liked Artà though and it’s not too far. Manacor is quite industrial so e never went. Yesterday we went to Pollenca, it was 1hr away. Palma is the same time and Soller is 1hr15. We have a car and I’d say it’s necessary here unless you plan on not moving about. Taxis come from Cala Millor 10/15 minutes away and charge you €10 before you go anywhere. The breakfasts here are so good, absolutely delicious with fresh baked goods and fruit plus a menu you can order whatever you like from eggs Benedict to Açai bowls.
“Shame. Wonderful location. Mediocre service and food.”
The grounds and the room are an absolute 5 out of 5. You can enjoy a world of tranquility with a peaceful outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, plentiful sun beds and the room to totally chill. Our bedroom was stunning, comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath and a lovely terrace and view. We were welcomed by Sonia who was extremely helpful and friendly and we had great lunches on the first day. The evening meal was a big disappointment. We had read reviews saying the food was amazing but our experience was distinctly average. We are not the people to pay for three star and expect five. However, our expectations were higher than what was delivered, from reading others’ experiences. We arrived to supposedly music at 7.30, which started at 8.50. We had planned to enjoy this over a cocktail before dinner. The staff we weren’t very interested or attentive. We then sat in the restaurant to find ants on the nearby window sill and flying ants in the roof. We ignored them to begin with but after three ants landed in our hair, we moved to other seats. The staff were helpful with this but then other than delivering the main course, totally ignored us including offering our dessert course which was included in the half board we had chosen. They seem surprised when after several time asking/waiting we got up and left. In the morning, we went for breakfast. I have coeliac disease and cannot eat gluten. I asked twice for someone to advise me as to what was safe for me to eat but, after being acknowledged, no one came. In the end I gave up. All in all, we had a nice stay. Because the grounds were so lovely we enjoyed it but we just hope that we picked the wrong night to visit and that most nights live up to everyone’s reviews.
“An absolutely relaxing holiday”
Son Penya is a really nice place for a relaxing holiday within the hills of northeast of Mallorca. Once you found the hotel ( it is not that easy when you are here for the first time), you will be impressed. A perfect location , beautiful garden, friendly and experienced staff. We had a Pool Villa, a really huge house, modern style, with a fantastic Pool. It is totally quiet here, the immediate neighbour you do not hear, the villas are seperated. And it is absoltely relaxing to sit here and look to the opposite hills and the vineyards below. Breakfast here is a great start into the day, it offers everything you need while sitting under old olive trees. We have already been here several times, and enjoyed it every time.
“Lovely little countryside Hotel”
This little hotel is a real gem - situated in a rural area, between olive trees, vineyards and fields, the former finca offers rooms and wonderful pool-villas. The villas are of a very good size, in a tasteful design and offer a terrace with view to an unspoilt landscape and offer a pool from the size, that you can swim a little bit. It`s quiet and peaceful. You can hear the birds and the sheep-bells in the distance. Special thanks to Evgeni. For us he is the good soul of the hotel for some years now. He is always there when you need assistance or for a little chat . Only the restaurant felt a little bit down this year. On a balmy evening they refused us to sit outside. We quickly decided to go to our italian restaurant in Cala Rajada (there you can always sit outside, even on a stormy March-evening). Suddenly we were allowed to sit on the terrace. Other guests joined us. We were treated a little bit cold for our non-complying behaviour on this evening. Normally I would reduce one point for such an incident. But this hotel is so lovely, I don`t do it.
“A Truly Relaxing and Memorable Stay”
My wife and I had an opportunity to take a holiday alone and chose Son Penya based on the location, architecture of the property and privacy afforded by the ‘private villas’ which make up about 50% of the 20 rooms at this beautifully presented property. Highs of our stay: -Size, quality of furnishings, privacy and views from our ‘private villa’ (room no. 17) -The immaculate public areas including the gardens -Friendly and professional staff both in the restaurant, reception and around the hotel in general. In particular, a big ‘thank you’ to Roberto, Sonia and Barbara for their attentiveness during our stay and willingness to listen to and help me as I learn to speak Spanish. -Quality and value of food at breakfast and dinner with a good choice on the menu as well as some ‘specials’ each evening. -The spa and pool. A wide range of treatments available and reasonably priced Could be better- -The consistency of the dishes at dinner. I had the same dish twice during our stay and the presentation/flavour was far better the first time I ate it. Overall, a highly relaxing and enjoyable stay in a beautifully rural and unspoilt part of Mallorca. I’d recommend having a car should you wish to explore beyond the immediate area and taking one of the larger ‘private villas’, with their own pools if you are seeking complete privacy. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.
“A hotel to sooth your soul ,wonderful”
Let me make something perfectly clear Son Penya absolutely deserves the top rating possible but you have to understand that if you are looking for anything other than total relaxation, privacy ,incredible food (you have to have the BBQ on a Friday ) and staff that truly care then look elsewhere and leave Son Penya for the travellers who understand and respect the hotels vision .It truly is a wonderful place to sooth your soul . All the rooms are great the pool is wonderful ( if your the kind of traveller who puts their towel on a bed at 7 in the morning don’t book Son Penya) and the hotel is spotless
