“the barcelona stay from HELL!”

Nothing. The host didn't show up to give us the keys we waited at I east 3 hours into the night. Called her at least 10 times in a 3 hours period. We had her prior guest call and text and it wasn't just us. She did the same to 2 other people a young lady and an old man. It was sstupid.

To be improved

nothing. since I was forced and ended sleeping in a hostel with strangers with my wife and son. there were no vacancies anywhere else.

“A little gem!”

This is a fantastically located guesthouse with everything on your doorstep, or at least a brief walk away. Check in was simple, good communication from the team at the guesthouse - you have pay a city tax on arrival so someone is there to greet you, give you keys and give you a brief tour. All very easy. The room itself was average sized but perfect for two people, a small balcony overlooking the street below was a nice touch. The room was basic but had what you needed - comfy beds, a wardrobe, a simple TV. The rest of the facilities are 'shared' however don't let this put you off - across the corridor outside the rooms are two shower rooms and two toilets - in the 5 days we were there we never waited one for either of these. Shower Ge and shampoo in the showers too. In addition there is a kitchen and dining area where you can prepare your own food if you like, you're even allocated a shelf in the fridge for use! In terms of location this is fantastic - you are in the university area so you are surrounded by nice bars and restaurants, for those interested the gay area is a short 5 minute walk away - indeed many of the BCN Pride events were nearby which was a nice touch. You can reach the top of La Rambla in 3-4 minutes walk. All very walkable although Barcelona has a fantastic transport network to use if you prefer. I see some reviewers have mentioned noise - its true. There are 3 noises you hear in Barcelona - sirens, horns beeping or bikes 'tringing' - but you have to appreciate your in the middle of a major city, its unavoidable. If you're a light sleeper, pack earplugs. Also, one last thing - it was 30 plus degrees in Barcelona during my visit and pleased to report the air con was great.

To be improved

- the cleaning of rooms / provision of fresh towels was very hit and miss. Id have liked a cupboard full of fresh towels for everyone to use. - the TVs need an upgrade to include the ability to stream / use apps like Netflix etc - the noise may put some off particularly if you live in the suburbs usually and are used to zero noise at night. If you live in a city already it won't bother you. Also the walls are thin and the doors slam a lot. All of the above said, id 100% stay here again next time im in Barcelona :)

“Great location, beds are good and it’s clean. Also was expecting a lot more noise but was silent. · Cons: AC doesn’t cool so we had 2 of our 3 night with literally 1-1.5 hours of sleep because it was too hot.”
