Taberna del Alabardero

This hotel is not up to the four star standard it advertised itself to be. It has rooms that have seen better days in that maintenance has not been carried out for a long time. The furniture is supposed to be vintage but it just looks cheap and scruffy. There was a patch of rust around the bath drain. No tissues in the bathroom and no duvet on the bed, though there were two blankets put away. The lift was out of order and the steps are very steep, room was two floors up.

The room was lovely and decorated beautifully with an Andalusian theme. The location was great at the heart of the city. The staff were nice, helpful and everyone spoke at least little English. What we didn’t like was that the receptionist girl didn’t know how to use the hotel wifi or print something for us, when we really needed it. This made things difficult for us. We know that this place is a hospitality school, so we understand it’s not her fault if she hasn’t been taught these things. But at a 4-star hotel, she should be instructed how to print something for a customer, that is, if they are going to leave her in the reception alone like that.

This is our second stay after having last visited 5 years ago. Little has changed. The staff is welcoming and extremely dedicated to the comfort and experience of its guests. David went out of his way to accommodate us, even going so far as to obtain a table reservation at a popular restaurant in a non touristy area just minutes before we wanted to dine. The room was clean, spacious and there’s plenty of space for clothes. The A/C was powerful and immediately cooled the room. Our room faced the street outside and we could hear loud laughter as people walked home at night but it was fairly muffled by the extra sound deadening windows installed since our last visit. The hotel is literally a 7 minute walk from the cathedral and a 3 minute walk from a taxi stand. Close to many restaurants. As we did years ago, we dropped our luggage off before we could check in and again had them watch it after checkout so we could continue touring during the afternoon before our train departed. We would recommend this hotel highly.

Having just come from a mediochre experience in hotel Don Miguel in Ronda, what a refresing experience this was! Not only were we greeted by Julia the manageress, but she took personal responsibility and interest in welcoming us as well as accompanying us through the labarynth of backstreets to get to the parking three floors down via a very tight lift! Hotel was fantastic as was our room. We had the Cordoba junior suite. Very well appointed. All of the staff in fact were very helpful and courteous No-one put a foot wrong. All great and would recommend this hotel to anyone on either a leisure or business trip. The attention to detail and service we found to be second to none and we have stayed at other higher priced hotels in Sevilla previosly. Thanks Julia and staff for a great and welcoming stay. Amazing and so welcoming place to eat and have fun and happy moments in family! Food and environment were great and the staff was the best! It was TheBestMom’s bday and despite it was San Valentine’s Day they had a candle on the desert and kids were very welcome! Food was very tasty and with lots of great details! On the preset menu they made a change for me by replacing the meat dish by another fish dish that was so yummy!!! Thanks staff for all the care and love! The true diamond of the hotel is the staff, who will do all their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We want to say a big thank you for your hospitality. In general, the hotel is very stylish and well located. We truly recommend it!
