“I was quite happy to spend a week here because of the staff and superb location”

There is a wonderful cafeteria/ restaurant in this hotel and we had breakfast there every single morning, it was cheap and delicious and the staff were fantastic. They put out bottles of olive oil and a salt cellar on every table - a pleasant change from plastic sachets of oil and of salt. The young man who was nearly always on Reception was very pleasant and helpful, ringing taxis for me and getting me maps, and always greeting me with a few words and a smile. I was doing a course with the Instituto Cervantes and Toledo Rooms Palacio was the perfect location for me, as the lecture room was only a few minutes away.

To be improved

I understood, perhaps incorrectly, that I would have an 'electric kettle' (and 'chocolate or cookies' in my room - that is what I understood reading the list of facilites' when booking. I would have liked to have had a kettle and the fridge provided was great but very small, it would hardly fit a bottle of water. There was however a communal room that had a coin-operated machine for coffee, and there was a microwave and table and comfortable chairs there too, so I'm not really complaining, or I shouldn't complain. I think that anti-slip mats are needed both on the floor of the bathroom and in the half-bath itself. The young man very obligingly brought me a mat for the bath when I asked for one, but I still found the floor very slippy when getting out of the shower. I am not really able to bend, and the nearest socket to me was at the back of one of the beds, quite difficult for me to access. I would like to see more sockets, though I realise that this is an old hotel -- that is very much part of its charm.

What I loved most was the warmth and dedication of the hotel staff. From check-in to check-out, they went above and beyond—they even let me use a lounge to work after I’d checked out, which was incredibly kind! Small gestures like that, along with their attentiveness made me feel genuinely cared for. The employees were always willing to help—whether it was with local recommendations, small thoughtful touches like remembering my preferences, or quickly addressing any concerns with a smile. What really stood out to me was their attentive and heartfelt service—it never felt forced, but rather like they truly cared about making guests feel welcome. That human connection made me feel at home and left a lasting positive impression. I even exchanged some fun stories with them! It was definitely that personal touch that made all the difference.

To be improved

Only one thing: that my stay had to end! I enjoyed every moment so much—the kindness of the staff, the comfort—that leaving was genuinely the only downside.

Customer service and communication was excellent!! Location was perfect! The attached restaurant provided great food and service at a good price. Cafe/coffee was excellent. We enjoyed the common break room with coffee and water.

To be improved

As always, tourists need more hooks and places to put and store things off of the floor. There was no luggage rack.
