There were a few downsides to our stay at the apartment. A car is definitely necessary, especially since we had to drive into Torrevieja to collect the keys from the managing agents. Finding the apartment block was also a challenge, as the address led us to a different street, and there was no clear signage to identify the correct building within the complex. The directional instructions provided on Booking.com directed us to a website with supposed visual aids, but the pictures were unavailable, and they weren't sent to us after we inquired. Gaining access to the car park was inconvenient; my partner had to enter through the coded pedestrian gate (codes were provided) to get the car park fob from inside the apartment. Additionally, we had to spend an afternoon cleaning the balcony and terrace furniture due to a buildup of red dessert dust from the recent storms Spain had experienced, although this wasn't on the few days prior to arrival so should have been checked and cleaned. Although the managing agent apologised and offered a cleaner, we had already taken care of it ourselves as we couldn't use these areas without cleaning them. The overall cleanliness of the apartment away from the bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms was also not up to par, with poorly cleaned floors (as evidenced by a smelly mop in the cupboard under the stairs) and kitchen sink and finger marks all over the kitchen cupboards. We also had to clean the interior of the fridge due to lingering food odors and dirty shelves. Furthermore, the managing agents contacted us via WhatsApp after we had booked on this platform, offering a slightly cheaper rate if we booked directly instead of through Booking.com, which is a practice we found unusual, especially considering the Booking.com guarantees we would have missed out on.
