Venus House

1. The main bedroom smelt of stale body odour. The furniture throughout the interior is very worn and tawdry. The external garden furniture was nearly all broken to the extent that some was unusable, most of it was dangerously damaged. 2. We suffered an electrical power loss one evening and were told that to rectify the problem we needed to go outside (in the dark) and go into a connection box which was situated in the street and press a reset button which was in a box containing several uncovered electrical connectors. I consider that this was a serious risk to people unfamiliar with the system and untrained in rectifying electrical supply problems. 3. We were charged a 250 euro deposit which had to be paid in cash before I was allowed the security code for the key-safe at the property. This required me to go to Santander Bank in Corralejo to obtain the cash from an ATM and then pay it into the account of the landlord. This meant that I paid the transaction cost and the exchange rate. When we left, I had to remind the landlord three times to repay it which they eventually did but through an IBAN transaction which meant that I was required to pay the cost of the transaction again and bear the exchange rate loss. Therefore, the payment and receipt of the “full” amount cost me 35 pounds. 4. The neighboring property which is very close indeed is occupied by an extremely loud and argumentative family who continue their shouted arguments and conversations until 2am every night and are engaged in some form of DIY involving noisy machinery all day.

The sun loungers were broken. You couldn't adjust the back on some of them. The pool had no rail for getting in and out. Too much of the owners things were there. The shower over the bath was held together with tape but still leaked everywhere. There was no off street parking and the Wi-Fi didn't work in two of the bedrooms. There was no information pack about the area or how any of the equipment worked.

The coldness of the swimming pool. No air con. The pillows in the master bedroom are like doorstops. Need replacing. No BBQ area. That could be added to the rooftop area.
