“A real treat, we were really sorry we had to leave!”
The house was in impeccable state, and so was the large downstairs pool area. The view was absolutely superb. The village, literally 'at the end of the road', was nice and really unspoiled (with two very very small shops for the absolute basics only). We did not swim at the beach down from the house, as the waves were quite strong when we were there, and we lacked knowledge of local conditions. But one of the best beaches of Tenerife, Playa de Las Teresitas, was at only a 20 minutes drive from the house. There's also an interesting, steep climb to the top of the hill and, a bit further on, an old, derelict semaphone station looking out over the sea -- highly recommended, but the track does require good shoes, some fitness, and some attention too (i.e. it's not a track for young kids running all over the place).
Nothing really. It's a bit of a climb to get from the road (and parking) down to the house, but that's to be expected in a coastal village, and local host Rubèn was so kind to carry our two heaviest suitcases when we arrived. Parking spots directly over the house were limited, so often we had to walk a little further along the road. Big supermarkets also do take some driving (~30 min), but if you plan well, e.g. combine it with a beach visit or a tour, that's no problem at all. There's the occasional lizard or gekko entering the house if you leave doors or windows unattended, which can be considered a con or a pro -- just so you know... :) In all, nothing that outweighed all the good things of this house.
“Perfect peace and tranquility. Total relaxation and definitely wish we had stayed for longer.”
What a fantastic property and hostess. Loli was very responsive to any queries we had and the property was simply gorgeous. An absolute haven of peace and tranquility with ample space for my family of 5 so that we could all truly relax. Everything worked perfectly and even on the one occasion that the toaster broke, Loli had organised a brand new replacement toaster which was delivered by a friend of hers within 3 hours. If they had an 11/10 option then Villa Guacimara would definitely deserve that score.
I can't really think of any negatives as my family and I were perfectly happy lounging by the stunning pool but, it is worth noting that if you want to spend most of your time sunning yourself at the beach then you will probably need to jump into the car for a 10-15 minute drive down the coast to San Andres. That said, San Andres is well worth visiting anyway as the beach is beautiful and the local restaurants were brilliant with ourselves and, especially, the kids.
“Bad”
We didn't like the fact that there was about a 5 minute walk after you park the car. My friend Lucy has lung disease and she wasn't going to be able to walk up and down with her suitcases. Also, for each time that we would want to go out. We left upon arrival in the parking lot due to 10 minute roundtrip walk, requested a partial refund of the almost $1,200 that we paid, but got $0!!! Be careful people before booking.
