Villa Lorenzo

Our room was facing west (I think) and as there was no air conditioning it unfortunately remained uncomfortably hot the whole time as it received the midday - evening sun. There was just no opportunity for it to cool down which made for slightly uncomfortable nights sleep. However sitting on the quaint little balcony after the sun went down was a nice little reprieve.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I felt I needed to share our experience to help other travellers. The staff were genuinely lovely and the breakfast was great, but unfortunately the room was unbearably hot. We stayed during summer and had seen a few reviews mentioning the heat, so we asked in advance whether it would be comfortable. We were told it would be fine with fans, and were given two — but even with all the windows open and both fans going, the heat inside was stifling. We ended up sleeping in our car because it was the only way to cool down enough to rest. For context, we’re from Australia and very used to hot conditions, but this felt borderline unsafe. It made the room essentially uninhabitable for us. We made the difficult decision to leave early and paid for another hotel down the road that had air conditioning, which made a huge difference. Unfortunately, we were still charged for the second night — including city tax — despite not staying. It’s disappointing, as this could’ve been easily resolved by offering a refund for the night we physically couldn’t stay. This is the first time I’ve ever left a stay early, and the first time I’ve ever rated an accommodation this low. I’m still hopeful this can be resolved, as I’d be happy to reconsider or remove the review if the situation is made right.
