“Beautiful, spacious, maybe needs a bit of TLC”

The best

Close to the beach via the tunnel was great. The beach bar with sun loungers had a decent food and drink menu and lovely staff. It is about 20 minutes walk to Cala Mijas Beach, and there is a nice Italian restaurant within 5 minutes walk towards Mijas. There is also a small supermarket just after the restaurant (Google may tell you it's a chemist but it has changed) which is really walkable but pricey - Ok for a quick shop to get some essentials. The main supermarket is a short taxi ride away. I recommend using Uber for this which worked well for us but use the map to enter your location as the actual address doesn't come up. The bedrooms were a good size and very clean. There was plenty of hot water and air conditioning worked in every bedroom. The outside area is spacious and private. We appreciated the provision of beach towels as well as soft bath towels. The hosts were very quick with communication.

To be improved

The Villa is beautiful but in need of some attention. The shutters in lots of windows don't work. My room had a sea view but we couldn't enjoy that as the shutters wouldn't go up. The furniture in the living areas is old, and there are only chairs, no sofa. The outside area is spacious but could do with more lighting around the seating area. The kitchen utensils are old, chopping boards in particular need replacing and the oven hadn't been cleaned as there was melted cheese on the racking. Also the kitchen sink plug wouldn't go down but we found a large tin bowl that we could use for washing the dishes in (there is also a small dish washer). The main downstairs living area could do with soft seating rather than a large dining table which was surplus to requirement due to the dining table upstairs which was closer to the kitchen. One of the downstairs toilets has a small leak but we reported it when we were leaving and the host said they would arrange for it to be fixed. None of this spoiled our holiday and I would use the villa again.

“Spacious Villa”

The best

This is a good size Villa for a large group with plenty of bedrooms. Each room had its own toilet and shower. The bedrooms are a good size and have hanging space for clothes. The space outside had sun loungers and plenty of seating areas with tables and chairs. The Villa is situated near bus stops if you want to go to different places. A beach bar and beach is a short walk away. Also, a nice walk to La Cala takes around 20 mins and is mainly flat. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and cooking aids. A dishwasher and washing machine. The Villa is next to a main road, but it didn't really affect any of us. The host did keep in contact throughout our stay. The gardener came on a Monday, and he was very polite and didn't disturb us. The Villa felt very safe and private. Towels were provided for each guest. TV in each bedroom and air-conditioning.

To be improved

The kettle in the kitchen seemed old and leaked whilst we used it. I did report this, but unfortunately, this didn't get replaced whilst we were there, resulting us to use a pan to boil water. The shower room on the first floor did not drain water very well, resulting in the whole shower room, landing collating the water. Again, this was reported, and a maintenance check was promised, but unfortunately, this didn't happen.

The best

Large grand looking villa very close to La Cala. Also a lovely local beach just across the main road. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The new owner was fantastic at answering our queries.

To be improved

It is right on a main road. No point in hiding the fact ... so it can be noisy. The pool isn't in the sun and there's not much space to sit by it. The garden is an odd shape but hopefully the new owners will do something better with it.

“We had a very nice stay with 12 people!”

The best

I came with a group of 12 friends, the property is extremely close to the beach and has a pool that is wonderful to use in the hot weather of the region. Every bedroom also has working air conditioning and a bathroom, which is very nice. Communication with the hosts regarding issues went well. The barbecue was also easy to use and very nice to have.

To be improved

For a group of 12 the kitchen is lacking a little bit, there are not many hobs and the pans aren't very large. There also weren't any bin bags or tea towels. The sound of the highway is also loud as it runs right in front of the property, but I would argue this is worth it for the proximity to the beach. We did have some issues with mosquitoes but this can be solved with repellant.

Property was perfect for being homely, With a minute walk from the beach with a beautiful beach bar and lovely staff.

To be improved

Pillows were not as comfortable as we would have liked, with toilet seat broken.
