“Nice but very difficult to access up a massive steep hill”

The best

Lovely well equipped villa, comfortable beds and 3 decent bathrooms. Only the bedrooms are air conditioned, not the whole place but there is a standing fan in the dining area. Very well equipped kitchen. Fabulous pool and area which was cleaned twice in the week we were there. Also the towels were changed in the week which was good - bathroom and beach towels. Lovely quiet area - you’re literally in the hills!

To be improved

You need to be aware that the location is only shared on the day you arrive - and it was a shock to find it is up in the hills, with an impossible last hill to climb. We hadn’t intended to hire a car but had no choice as even the fit and young in the party couldn’t have walked up the hill in the intense heat. It is outside of the boundary of Portinatx and doesn’t have an address so you can’t book a local taxi! One taxi took us up on the first night and the meter read €5 but he got very angry and charged us €20! Also the pool only had one umbrella between 6 beds so it definitely needs 2 more umbrellas. The company were great at keeping in touch but it would have been nice to have arrived and found at least a bottle of water in the fridge for us.

“Beautiful views from gorgeous villa in the hills above Portinatx”

The best

Villa Sa Descuberta was a real find - a lovely hillside villa with great views over Portinatx at a reasonable price. The villa was spotlessly clean, exceedingly well equipped, and had the bonus of three bathrooms (we were a family of five adults, so this was really useful). The pool was perfect for us - it's not heated, but it was really hot the week we were there and so it never felt cold. Towels (including beach/pool towels) were provided (and changed mid-week), and a pool technician came round twice during our week. All communication was clear - once we had established an email and whatsapp connection it was very easy to get answers to any queries. The location gave us peace and quiet surrounded by hibiscus and oleander shrubs - but we were within a 10/15 minute walk to the centre of Portinatx for a choice of three beaches, bars, cafes and restaurants. We loved our week in the Ibizan sunshine and would highly recommend Villa Sa Descuberta.

To be improved

We had no problems, but families with small children might worry as the pool is very deep (over 2m at the deep end, and the shallow end wasn't particularly shallow!). The drive up to the villa off the road into Portinatx is very steep (first gear steep), which can take a bit of getting used to! This means that the walk down into Portinatx is quite easy.....but the walk back up the hill much harder! We used our rental car to visit a large supermarket just outside Eivissa to stock up as we didn't fancy carrying heavy shopping (including litres of water) up the hill! Otherwise it was fine for us, but might be something to consider if any of your party has mobility issues.

A lovely villa within a couple of minutes drive of a nice beach and restaurants. Host on hand via WhatsApp leading up to and throughout our stay.

To be improved

Pool isn't heated (which we knew), but also doesn't get a huge amount of sunlight during the day to warm it up due to a large wall keeping most of it in the shape in the afternoon. Wifi was a little hit and miss in some rooms of the villa. We had a small problem with the induction hob not working when we first arrived, but staff visited within an hour to resolve. However it would have been better if they'd know how to resolve the issue over WhatsApp which should have been doable.
