Villa Sontrobat

The front window protection system is failing in places and could do with some maintenance. The ceiling fan in the living room wobbles alarmingly. Kitchen cupboard laminate is coming off in places and needs sticking back down before it’s wholly which would be a shame as it’s a lovely kitchen.

Where do I begin? Ruined 60th Birthday holiday. My family and I stayed at Villa Sontrobat for 12 nights at the end of June. Unfortunately, we were not informed of ongoing MAJOR renovations in the two apartments next door. We were unable to stay in our apartment, nor use the terrace from 8am until 6pm daily due to extreme noise and dust for 10 days of our 12 night stay (we only had respite on Sundays!). I am not exaggerating when I say the walls were vibrating. We could even hear the noise from the beach. We spoke to Booking.com and Atlantico Rentals regarding the major issues (they could hear the noise from next door whilst on the phone) and they refused to move us, stating that they had nowhere to put us. We were told by the building manager that the owner of the villa and also the letting agency were aware of the renovations from the adjoining bungalows. Furthermore, whilst we were there, we also found a review from another holidaymaker who had recently stayed at Villa Sontrobat in early June, and they had stated the same issue and sadly had their holiday ruined also. Why was nothing done? Why continue renting Villa Sontrobat when Booking.com were aware of the issues? You have a moral and legal obligation to us, just like we had by looking after the bungalow and leaving it immaculate on leaving. We were basically ‘sitting ducks’ as we had nowhere else to go. We have numerous videos of the renovations as proof of the horrific dust/noises that we had to endure and will be more than happy to share these. Although we have been given a partial refund after complaining, we feel we really should have received a full refund giving the extent of the issue. Anybody visiting Villa Sontrobat within the next 12 months please beware! We were advised that when the renovations next door are complete, the ones a few doors down are due to start a full renovation also.

The main bedroom felt and smelt damp. There is no extractor fan in the shower room, and the window was locked shut. The bed and pillows also smelt damp - we moved through to the second bedroom. The windows at the front of the house are not easy to lock again once opened, and have clearly faced the same issues with other guests judging from the damage to the frames. WiFi didn't work on arrival, and there was a warning not to reset it or a call out fee would charged, so I had to wait for them to get back to me, to tell me to restart the router! Pretty hands off approach as well - it was not possible to call anyone.
