“Great Villa but needs a few additions to make us want to go back”

The best

The property was spacious and had 4 bedrooms , 2 of the bedrooms were on the ground floor, double in size and both had en-suite showers and baths. The 1st floor was the large living space with a further 2 smaller double rooms with no en-suite. The kitchen was small in comparison to the rest of the villa but adequate to cook etc. The location was convenient for all the local seaside towns and was set into a valley with many other villas. The villa and grounds were secluded and not overlooked. The 1st floor had a large sun terrace which was covered and overlooked the clean and generous sized non heated pool. The pool was warm when we went in July and was a great size for exercise or simply laying around. We counted 9 sun beds which was more than enough. When I picked up the keys we were given ping pong bats and balls which we used on the full sized ping pong table at the villa. The villa provided on site parking which was also great. We had small bath towels on all the 4 beds and a welcome pack of washing up clothes and a small amount of washing up liquid and a one dishwasher tablet. The showers were all powerful and hot which was great , including an outside shower which was a great addition when getting out of the pool. Over all the villa was clean, spacious and a great pool. Some reviews mention a Jacuzzi but I can confirm this has been removed and is no longer at the villa. We received 2 x sets of keys which was handy if you had a large party of guests ! Before booking , please read my negatives as it may help with your decision.

To be improved

As mentioned the 4 bedrooms were great but only one of them had air conditioning! On our second night my daughter and son in law with their 9 month old baby had to swap our bedroom with the air conditioning because their room on the ground level was so hot !!! Infact it was the same heat as any regular sauna that I have visited ! This meant that myself and my partner had to move into another bedroom with no air conditioning as it was only right that the baby was not too hot! This meant our stay was blighted by amazing heat in our headroom at night ! Not ideal! My recommendation to the owner is to install air conditioning units in ALL the bedrooms as remember Spain is hot and getting hotter each year as widely reported. The driveway up to the villa was up hill slightly and gravelled which meant to mitigate slipping , we had to take a run up to get into the villa. 4 x 4 cars would be fine but we only had a 2 wheel drive car. My recommendation would be to lose the gravel and consider tarmac or similar. The beds were all doubles but hard to sleep on. There was hardly any softness in the mattress’s and by the end of the week our backs were feeling a little sore! Point worthy of mention to all my fellow travellers, the doors once shut from the outside can only be opened again with a key ! Don’t shut the door from the outside unless you have a key in hand ! The kitchen utensils were adequate but there were no water jugs , steak knives or larger cutting knives . These would have been handy to have when preparing food.
