“Refined and comfortable stay in the best area of Madrid.”
The stay was excellent. The hotel has an elegant, classic décor. The room was very spacious and completely soundproofed. Breakfast service at the Tragaluz restaurant is à la carte, with high-quality products, and the garden area is outstanding. The location is one of the hotel’s main strengths: just a few meters from Serrano Street and El Retiro Park. Highly recommended for those seeking a comfortable and refined stay in the best area of Madrid. We will definitely be back!

“Giving 1 star as I can’t give zero”
One of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The photos online are completely misleading. Room 207 looked nothing like what was advertised: a dark hallway with old carpet, a door that looked like an emergency exit, harsh hospital-style lighting, very old furniture, and a bathroom that wasn’t clean. It felt neglected and uncomfortable. We had booked three nights but ended up staying zero, because the room simply wasn’t acceptable. We moved to another hotel immediately. Check-in was rude and unhelpful. There was no one to assist with luggage, and we had to unload everything ourselves in the garage—only to be charged for the few minutes the car was there. After raising the issue with the hotel and Booking.com, Booking understood our complaint, but VP Recoletos still refused any refund, even though we didn’t stay. On top of that, they charge extra for almost everything, even basic in-room items (not minibar). Overall, outdated rooms, misleading advertising, poor service, and zero willingness to resolve issues. I strongly recommend choosing a different hotel in Madrid.
“Great spot in need of lighting consultant”
Wonderfully organized, super clean rooms in a quiet location. Less than 5 minutes to reach from the Colon Metro stop, the Recoletos cercania station, and more. The funny thing about such a nice place is that their designers somehow gave up when they got to interior lighting. Virtually no efforts could produce anything flattering for these otherwise elegant spaces. Perhaps they were sports fans, as blinding LED stadium lighting seems to be the norm. Would otherwise gladly go back.
“Cons: Unfortunately, we were not informed that breakfast only begins at 8AM. As we had to leave early on our last day, this meant we were unable to have breakfast at all, which was disappointing. Additionally, there was a miscommunication between the hotel team and the restaurant that resulted in a delay during our checkout. It was later clarified that the issue originated from your end, which caused unnecessary inconvenience.”
