Found it a bit tired and the patio furniture needs updated large extraction pipe now running up the outside of the apartment and it was noisy from 11am to 11pm and also carried a smell of pizza from the ovens

Albeit prior to this review we reached out to Booking.com to make the owner aware of our concerns and perhaps consider compensation and avoid the review, as we understand it would most probably have a significant impact on future bookings. I gave them a deadline of a week to get back to us and it has been ignored so am compelled to inform others of a very unacceptable issue….If you want to get to the nub of our issue scroll below to ****BIG PROBLEM**** Breakfast was not included in the charge. We qualified for a 'complimentary' taxi through Booking.com to take us from the airport to our apartment. On arrival at the airport our driver was waiting as arranged. We checked with him that he knew where to take us, however this turned out not to be the case when he eventually tried to drop us off at a completely different location, down some side street, approx 10 - 15 mins away from where we were meant to be. We phoned our meet and greet Juan (Apartment Owners Representative) to get him to speak to the taxi driver to explain the correct address. We eventually met a very grumpy Juan outside the apartment at 10.10pm - No welcome at all and immediately advised us that we had to pay an extra 20 euro's charge as it was after 10pm check in time. We felt this was extremely unfair given the circumstances and that the taxi driver (who was acting on behalf on booking.com) was at fault for the late arrival. Juan didn’t even offer to assist with my partners luggage until we were almost at the apartment. Once inside our apartment we were not shown how anything worked - It appeared Juans priority was to get away & on with his evening after collecting his 20 euros, making sure we almost immediately transferred the €150 deposit and handing us the keys.

“Could be great!”

We were met by Silvia, who communicated effectively with us, and showed us to the apartment at a time agreed between us. The keys were missing, so Silvia left us her set. The apartment was well equipped, and spacious. Plenty of storage, well stocked kitchen and clean towels in the bedrooms. We have visited before, we stayed in a different apartment, and so we could compare the properties. Pueblo Evita is well placed in a nice area of Benalmadena. With a little care and attention this apartment could be lovely again.

It was evident the maintenance required in the apartment has not been kept up. A drawer in the kitchen did not slide correctly, There was a chunk missing out of the wall in the lounge area, they had seemingly had guests who had made holes in the doors. The holes in the doors had been filled but I think for the price of the apartment and the damage deposit paid, they should have replaced the doors. The soft furnishings could do with a clean, there were stains on them. The bulb didn't fit in the overhead light so flickered and didn't work, there were other lights to use luckily. The shower drain in the main bathroom was backing up, so short showers only! The extractor fan was hanging off the wall in the ensuite shower room, the shower was not adjustable. There was a small amount of blood on the wall and on the bedding in the main bedroom, I suspect whoever made the bed up had just hurt their hand. There was no duvet or blanket for the second bed, so it was cold. There were stains on the mattress protector. The balcony had some chairs that needed painting, others has ripped cushions, plus there were areas on the balcony walls with paint missing, it made it look scruffy. We had to leave our holiday 3 days early to get home because my Dad became gravely ill, I explained this via the messaging service, there was no well wishes, only a message back saying they hoped we enjoyed our stay. The office did not contact us about an issue we had with the key for the security gates. It did become clear after speaking with reception, it wasn't the key but the actual locks on the gates that were temperamental. Silvia messaged us to help during and also after we left to clarify the key issue. I hope the owners use the quieter weeks to carry out some of the much needed maintenance work.

“Apartment has great potential if got an overhaul to ensure everything functional.”

The layout and size of the apartment and balcony was nice. The pool area is lovely although an area was cordoned off awaiting repair presumably. It was also in a great location with supermarket, restaurants and bars all within a very short walk.

Keys given were a real struggle to figure out. They didn't work in the gate to let us into the complex and we had to wait for someone else to come to let us in each time. People staying in other apartments had a keycard whereas we just had a big bundle of keys. The wifi did not work either throughout our stay which was frustrating. Apartment is also in need of a complete overhaul. Lights and lamps didn't work and only air conditioning is in the main bedroom. Furniture was in a bit of disrepair. Juan was very helpful in trying to get the wifi working and with some other queries.

Had the best time at this apartment. Large sunny terrace over looking the pool, very spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean and in a fab location. Travelled as a group of four ladies and we absolutely loved it. Would definatly return. ❤

To be improved

Nothing worth mentioning. We realise this is a rental and therefore we did not expect fine art and expensive furniture so no complaints from us..
