Great location but extremely noisy.
The front desk staff was nice.
Overall amenities not mentioned; standard quality for this hotel tier.
Due to the noisy environment and cleanliness issues, not a good experience.
The quality relative to cost is considered low.
Breakfast wasn’t great.
“Lovely hotel. Great holiday”
Just back from a week in Whala!Beach. Lovely hotel. Clean and bright. All staff from reception, bar, restaurant, cleaners and chefs were friendly and helpful. Good variety of tasty food every day. Our room (715) had a fabulous view of Palma bay and we saw some beautiful sunsets from there and the roof bar. There was no fridge or kettle in the room, but we collected a kettle from reception for a €10 deposit. There is only 1 small lift and you do need to wait a while for it to come! The resort is a favourite with German tourists so expect German groups, bars etc. We had a lovely holiday.
“The worst holiday experience”
Review – Water Incident I’ll start with the situation that completely ruined my experience at this hotel. On Tuesday, October 7th, I came to dinner with a small bottle of water I had just brought back from running. I hadn’t even drunk from it, I just had it with me. The waitress started gesturing that I should put the bottle on the floor, which already seemed strange – putting drinks on the floor doesn’t feel very hygienic. Then an older waiter, I think his name was Pedro – grey hair, glasses – came over. Without a word, he took my water and placed it on a chair I tried to calmly explain that it was just water and I wasn’t even drinking it, but he reacted aggressively. He shouted at me in Spanish in front of other guests, and I couldn’t understand what he was saying. I felt humiliated and my only option was to leave the dining area. I understand there are rules about bringing drinks into the hotel restaurant. But there’s a difference between enforcing rules and humiliating a guest. That evening, I felt treated like an intruder rather than a paying guest. As for the room, Room 101 had a view that could bring anyone to tears. the front desk staff were helpful and offered me a different room – thank you for that. One notable minus: the room had no fridge, which was inconvenient.
“Not the best lobby smells of pungent lemon cleaner room and bathroom need upgraded balcony not clean food was just ok”
Not a 3 star website not reflective of actual rooms needs an upgrade ok if you want basic lobby smells pungently of lemon cleaner food just ok
“Very bad.”
Room & cleaning: The shower drain was clogged, and the walls and doors were poorly insulated. Noise was constant – loud guests at night and cleaning staff in the mornings slamming doors and making a lot of noise, especially near the storage room. There was not even a fridge in the room to keep water cold. • Facilities: The pool was very small and there was no gym. There was also no elevator from the lobby to the third floor, which meant carrying luggage up several staircases just to reach the lift. Overall, the hotel felt very poor in terms of amenities. • Staff: The evening staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. They mostly spoke Spanish and made no effort to communicate in English. • Safety & environment: The balconies were not properly separated, so neighbors could throw trash or even access our balcony. The area was not family-friendly, with many drunk people around. Summary: This hotel left a very bad overall impression. Neither the staff, the rooms, nor the facilities lived up to expectations. I cannot recommend Whala! Beach Hotel, especially not for families with children.
“Mediocre”
Very loud, full of groups on football team tours. Room was clean. However as two girls visiting we were subject to lots of unwanted attention. Nice pool bar however in the day the pool is rowdy with groups playing loud music. Room was safe and air con worked ok. We were surprised with a random tax charge when arriving off €22 which seemed abit dodgy. Views were amazing from top of rooftop bar, breakfast had a large selection.
“Don’t bother if you’re not here for a party”
I was probably not the target audience for this hotel as I’m not a group of Germans who drink for 16 hours straight. Pros: -Decent WiFi. -Breakfast and evening meal are good. -Good air-con in the room. -Staff in canteen are friendly. -good location. minutes away from beach, 3 corner shops (one next door, two across the street) for drinks and snacks and a larger supermarket for more stuff. -tv is alright, has a lot of American shows (have to pay 10€ deposit at front desk for the remote). Cons: -Balcony doors were broken so wouldn’t close properly and could hear every noise outside and smell every cigarette. -housekeeping tries to barge their way in after repeatedly saying no (there is a button on the inside of the door which ‘locks’ the room from anyone using a keycard from outside but this seems to be a pointless action as they can get in anyway). -very thin walls so you hear everything. -double bed is two singles on wheels pushed together which slide around constantly. -standard refillable drinks at breakfast but if you want any sort of drink with evening meal (alcohol, soft drink or water) you have to purchase it and you can’t bring anything in. -several minor maintenance issues in room which combined after a while become annoying.
